The mountains of northeast Alabama feature deciduous forests that offer excellent fall foliage displays from mid-October to mid-November. The smaller elevation diversity compared to the Smokies leads to a shorter period of peak color, but one that is nonetheless often quite photogenic. Favorite locations shown here include Monte Sano and Huntsville, Jackson and DeKalb Counties, and the Bankhead Forest.
